You and your driver trainer are together for the whole JD Truck Training Centre period and you will work as hard or easy as that particular trainer does. That may not be too appealing to some and it isn't really too much fun. The good thing is that it is over so quickly and then you'll be on your own. Make the best of this training and you'll be fine.
Many of the better private schools will have a wide range of training including several weeks of practice at backing up the truck, classroom coverage of everything from log books to maps and routing to air brakes and vehicle inspection. They will also have several weeks of training out on the local roadways. Make sure they will give you the necessary training to get ALL of your endorsements including hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples, and people (buses). Make sure you get ALL of these. It only requires a very short written test and can also severely limit your job opportunities if you leave them out.
I remember when the Truck driving school was teaching me how to meet all the CDL requirements. They taught me how to back up, shift and do lane changes and everything. But the real deal of getting loaded, to driving through the mountains is another thing.
I have long hair and sometimes a beard, but at least I don't have to wear a tie, I think I'd die. I drive over 500 miles a day, so I change my scenery everyday. If travel is vacation to most, I guess I might be a great host.
Upon discharge from active Lr licence duty he was assigned to Fort Hamilton as I had been. Living in Brooklyn it was logical that he would spend his six years of active army reserve at this fort. His outfit was activated during the Korean War and they were sent to Korean. He had been wounded and fortunately not seriously. He mentioned several people who had been either killed or wounded in HR Truck Licence action and I recalled two of them. We parted ways and I went about my business. But before I could get in my car and return home I needed a cup of coffee and a few cigarettes.
However, knowing about the Bubble involves more than just keeping open space around you whenever it's convenient. It also means being aware of whatever space there is. It means checking behind and to the sides frequently and being aware of what other drivers are doing.
